Manufacturing Company Empowers Grand Bahamians

GRAND BAHAMA, BAHAMAS – A multi-million dollar business launched during the COVID-19 pandemic is set to expand with a headquarters in Grand Bahama. Bahamas Mineral & Manufacturing Corporation officials say it will create job opportunities on that island. Italia Hall reports.

Two years after The Bahamas Mineral & Manufacturing Corporation Ltd. was established, the Bahamian-owned company is announcing plans to headquarter their business in Grand Bahama.

Company President Mitchell Thurston says they are in the process of purchasing a building.

Easy access and affordability of land, were key reasons they chose the northern island.

BMMC was launched in June 2020. The $6 million project focuses on mineral processing and product manufacturing.

Thurston says the plan is to employ some 16 people and he says Grand Bahamians will be given first preference for jobs.

Thurston says they want to empower Grand Bahamians.

Now, the company is planing to start operations during the first quarter of 2023.
