Ole Miss Falls to the Tennessee Vols

The Rebels Lose 65-51 At Rocky Top

KNOXVILLE, TN, USA – Coach Yolett McPhee McCuin and her University of Mississippi Lady Rebels lost to the University of Tennessee Volunteers 65-51 Thursday night on the Vols’ home court. 

Tennessee began the game on a 6-0 run and never looked back, leading the entire way. Ole Miss managed to get the game within 6 points with 7 minutes left in the 4th quarter when Marquisha Davis was fouled on a floater in the lane then hit the free throw to narrow Tennesee’s lead to 47-41. 

That turned out to be Ole Miss’s last stand as the Vols went on an 11-2 run to put them away. 

Davis, a senior guard had the first double-double of her career, scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds. Angel Baker led the team in scoring off the bench, with 14 points. 

Jordan Horston led Tennesee in scoring with 20 points. She also added 7 rebounds and 2 assists

The loss dropped the Rebels’ record to 18-5 on the season and 7-3 in the conference. 

The Rebels hope to bounce back from this loss when they play the University of Florida at home on Sunday at 5pm.
