NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The prison work scheme program has been suspended for inmates serving sentences for homicide and manslaughter, according to National Security Minister Wayne Munroe.

In the wake of the broad daylight shooting of a prisoner at the Rubis Mackey Street location, Minister Of National Security Wayne Munroe tells reporters the Prison Work Scheme Programme, also known as the Intamural Programme, for prisoners who have committed serious offences like homicides and manslaughter has been suspended.

Munroe says law enforcement officials are aware that retaliation is real and the safety of all inmates must be considered.
