NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Outspoken talk show host Rodney Moncur on the defense today, firing back at the recent controversy over government’s decision to hire him as a crime consultant.

Jasmin Brown reports.

The one-time member of parliament hopeful and former senator turned talk show host addressing the criticism weeks after it was revealed he was hired by the Ministry of National Security as a consultant on crime.

Moncur was asked about his qualifications for the post and exactly when he was hired.

Former Prime Minister Dr Hubert Minnis raised the issue in the House of Assembly in April and questioned if Moncur was making a $60,000 a year salary with benefits.

Both the national security minister and Prime Minister Philip Davis have defended Moncur’s hire.

Prime Minister Davis has said it is not a conflict of interest despite the fact that Munroe appeared on Moncur’s show as a recurring co-host for months when the Progressive Liberal Party was in Opposition.

Moncur says he agrees.
