NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Officers from the Royal Bahamas Police Force are not just confined to carrying out the law her on land, they also carry them out here on the high seas.

We took a look at what a typical day looks like for the officers who’re stationed at the Royal Bahamas Police Force’s Marine Support Services Branch.

Assistant Superintendent Dwayne Lewis is second in charge of the unit.

But it’s no day at the beach for these hard working officers, they have a lot on their plate.

They’re responsible for enforcing laws, protecting the community, conducting search and rescue operations, combatting drug and human smuggling as well as educating recreational boaters about maritime laws and boat safety.

There are 17 high-powered boats in their fleet and they are not just here in New Providence.

Lewis says each unit is responsible for regular marine patrols.
