NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The single use plastics ban in The Bahamas was fully implemented in July 2020 leaving retailers, hotels, and restaurants on the search for more sustainable options.

But with an overwhelming amount of options, all touting their friendliness to the environment, Better Earth Board Member Louis Herrera says there’s an important distinction to be made and it’s something compostable packaging company,  Better Earth, hopes to promote amongst Bahamian consumers.

Better Earth’s products are made of plant fibers, sustainably sourced paper, and plant-based alternatives to fossil fuel plastics like this lid.

Their items are certified to break down in a commercial or municipal composting facility within 90-180 days or less.

But it doesn’t stop with the products. CEO Joseph Bild says they’re hoping to collaborate to innovate how we handle waste management in the country.
