NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Some taxi drivers have allegedly been forging Bahama Host Certificates and officials are now moving to tighten the process to prevent this from happening.

Taxi Cab Union President Wesley Ferguson accusing some taxi drivers of forging Bahama Host certificates. The certification is a requirement for taxi drivers to be on the road.

The Bahama Host program is a customer service training program for the ministry, initially designed to increase customer service engagement for public service drivers.

Kirkland Pratt, Director of Industry Training in the Ministry of Tourism, says the issue has been brought to their attention.

The program requires a recertification after three years.

Pratt says the industry training department is working to strengthen the process, to prevent forgeries. One way is by going completely digital.

Meanwhile, there are reports that taxi drivers have been giving false information about Bahamian landmarks.

Pratt could not confirm or deny that complaints were made.
