NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Free National Movement leadership race is heating up with three FNM members of parliament vying for the party’s top spot. Despite the race getting more crowded, one of the candidates says he’s optimistic about his chances.

Jasmin Brown reports.

East Grand Bahama MP Kwasi Thompson was the second member of the FNM to announce his candidacy for leadership of the party.

But by no means does he think his chances of securing the party’s top spot is less than anyone else’s.

Thompson officially announced his bid for FNM leader last week, not long after Central Grand Bahama MP Iram Lewis announced his bid.

The most recent FNM mp to join the race was Marco City MP Michael Pintard, who revealed on Wednesday night that he will offer himself as a candidate for leader FNM at the party’s convention next month.

The three men all say the party needs a lot of work following its crushing defeat at the polls in September.

The party’s one-day convention will be held on November 27th.
