Two Arrested At Illegal Gold Mine In Guyana

GUYANA – Police in Guyana say they have impounded a helicopter and detained two Brazilians after discovering two illegal mining camps at new river triangle, in region nine.

Police say several other men believed to be Brazilians, ran away when security forces arrived at the illegal mining camps that were spotted during aerial surveillance on Sunday.

Aviation Minister Juan Edghill says the Guyana civil aviation authority inspector, who flew to the location on Tuesday, is now looking into where and to who the helicopter is registered.
