NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The mother of a man who drowned last month wants answers about her son’s death and she says she simply can not move on without them.

Jared Higgs has more details in this report.

This video of 25-year-old Tre’ Hamilton diving into a pool of sharks embodies one of his greatest loves during his life.

That’s where Hamilton was on June 11th along with a group of friends, he visited waters off West Bay Street near the Bob Marley Resort. But a day that was meant to be fun-filled would turn tragic.

The 25-year-old reportedly drowned after diving into the water.

Hamilton’s autopsy says he died from a neck injury complicating drowning.

His heartbroken mother was shocked by the news. Our News spoke to Hamilton’s mother, 44-year-old Sherique Patton via Zoom.

The grieving mother lives in Fort Lauderdale and flew in to handle her son’s affairs. However, she says she has been let down.

A report of the incident given to her incorrectly stated that her son had suffered gunshot injuries.

She also took issue with her son’s personal belongings being given to one of his friends he was with. She also doesn’t feel that the investigation into his death was thorough.

Our News reached out to police officials about Patton’s concerns, including the fact that the media was never informed of the drowning on June 11th.

In a press release issued today, police announced Hamilton’s drowning death saying it occurred on June 11th at 4:48 pm while he swam with friends.

As she grieves and searches for closure, the whole ordeal doesn’t sit well with the man’s mother.

Patton wants a thorough investigation into her son’s death. She also wants a more detailed autopsy that explains the cuts and bruises on his hands.

She says inconsistencies and lack of answers make it difficult to close this chapter.
