NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Bahamas Public Services Union continues to rail against the government over other outstanding issues, many centering on pending industrial agreements that have yet to be signed. The union says if those matters are not fixed, there may soon be industrial action across the public service.

Our Italia Hall has that angle.

President of The Bahamas Public Services Union Kimsley Ferguson says there are a number of outstanding matters.

One of them involves the University of The Bahamas Industrial Agreement, which he says was submitted to the tertiary institution in January 2020.

Ferguson says amendments were made to the agreement two months ago but there has been no response.

Another sore point for the union is the Public Hospitals’ Authority Agreement.

Ferguson says that the agreement was already approved by the committee but claims the government has not responded to say when that agreement can be signed off on.

Additionally, Ferguson says the Public Services Industrial Agreement is now at a standstill due to in a new proposal given by the government.
