NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Get out or be kicked out – that’s the warning the immigration minister is sending to illegal migrants living in The Bahamas.

Immigration Minister Keith Bell’s comments coming during his communication in the House of Assembly, Wednesday.

If that message sounds familiar, that’s because former Prime Minister Dr. Hubert Minnis issued a similar warning back in 2017.

Six years later, Bell told parliamentarians today that if illegal migrants fail to leave voluntarily, it will lead to their arrest, prosecution, deportation and placement on a restriction list.

The immigration minister notes that more special operations will be conducted, and irregular migrants will be prosecuted and deported, adding that laws will be reviewed to ensure that the fines and prison sentences are sufficient for violators.

Bell also issuing a warning to Bahamians to do their part to stop the immigration crisis.
