Man to Be Sentenced in 2026 After Jury Finds Him Guilty of Double Shooting

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A man is awaiting sentencing after a jury found him guilty of a double shooting that killed one man and partially blinded another.

Donté “Dre” Deveaux, 29, was convicted of the murder of Emmanuel Brown and the attempted murder of Samuel Joseph by a count of 8-1.

The men were talking and smoking at a car wash on Seventh Street, The Grove, on May 2, 2022, when a gunman alleged to be Deveaux shot them.

Brown told a policeman that Dre from Eighth Street shot him.

Joseph said he knew Deveaux for about 16 years and that his family knew him as Dre.

Justice Jeanine Weech-Gomez will begin sentencing on January 29, 2026.
