INAGUA , BAHAMAS – An electricity blackout did not stop the Free National Movement supporters from turning out to the party’s rally in Inagua on Friday night.

Earlier in the day, the party visited several islands, including stops in Crooked Island and Acklins.

Candidate for the area, Leo Ferguson, a former police officer, said he hopes to carry on the legacy of his father, who ran in that constituency, while bringing relief to a community he said is in desperate need.

Party leader Michael Pintard, also addressed several issues on the campaign trail, pointing to areas where he said the Davis administration has fallen short.

Ferguson criticized the government’s handling of Morton Bahamas, the salt production company that recently announced job cuts, benefit reductions, and a possible shutdown.

Meanwhile, voters have expressed frustration over long lines on advanced poll day, with some waiting until late into the night to cast their ballots.
