NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Bahamas Chamber of Commerce releasing a statement noting it expects all merchants to comply with their bank and card network agreements.

The Chamber releasing the statement following a concern from the Clearing Banks Association relating to the ongoing practice of merchants who charge customers an additional fee to process credit/debit card transactions as well as requiring a minimum or maximum transaction amount.

Certified Financial Educator Caline Newton said it is an issue of non compliance and those expenses should be for the business owner, not the customer.
