NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Around the world, people of Irish descent and the people who like to celebrate with them are toasting to St. Patrick’s Day.

St. Patrick’s Day became an official Catholic feast day in the 1600’s, originally serving to honor Saint Patrick and the arrival of Christianity in Ireland.

The version of St. Patrick’s Day we know today includes parades and pub crawls was actually popularized in North America by Americans Of Irish descent. These kinds of celebrations are more common in Ireland as well.

Here in The Bahamas, even bars and restaurants that aren’t usually Irish-themed get festive for the day, with themed drinks, pub crawls, and parties.

Bahamian Bistro has also partnered with nearby businesses for a pub crawl on Friday night.
