NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A former attorney general is weighing in on the recent announcement that the passport office will accept the applications of those impacted by citizenship ruling.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Monday that the passport office will accept the applications of people impacted by the Privy Council ruling that stated under article 6 of The Bahamas Constitution all children born in The Bahamas out of wedlock to a Bahamian father and a foreign mother are Bahamians at birth.

And while that may be good news for many, former Attorney General Allyson Maynard Gibson K.C. says the government still has more work to do.

The former attorney general says it’s time to act and the time for talk has been exhausted.
