NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Anthonique Strachan advanced to the 200m semis today. She won her prelim heat, finishing in 22.31. She will run again tomorrow.

Anthonique Strachan advanced to the 200m semis today. She won her prelim heat, finishing in 22.31. She will run again tomorrow.

Meanwhile, Devynne Charlton came second in of the 100m hurdles semifinals earlier today behind the USA’s Kendra Harrison in a time of 12.49 seconds. This after setting a new national record in the prelims yesterday.

Charlton now heads to the finals set for tomorrow at 3:20 p.m. Bahamas time.

Steven Gardiner ran in the 400m semis in the world athletics championships yesterday. Unfortunately, he pulled up, holding his leg, unable to complete the race.

He later posted to his social media pages that he suffered a grade-one tear of the tendon extending from his knee to his right posterior thigh.

Baseball

D’Shawn Knowles of the Los Angeles Angels organization recorded his first hit last night for the Rocket City Trash Pandas, a single in the 9th inning.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough as they lost to the Birmingham Barons 10-4.

The 22-year-old switch-hitting outfielder and his twin brother D’vaughn have been working their way through the minors since they were 16 years old.

This latest promotion leaves him one step closer to fulfilling his major league dreams.
