NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A man who fired at an off-duty policeman while trying to steal his car has been sentenced to two years’ imprisonment.

Dominique Rolle initially faced charges of attempted murder and attempted armed robbery in relation to the June 8, 2016 incident.

Under a plea deal, Rolle pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life and attempted stealing.

Around 2:30 a.m. on the day in question, Rolle and another man went to an off-duty police officer’s home with the intention of stealing parts from his Honda Accord.

When the officer confronted the thieves, one of them shot at him. The officer drew his gun and shot Rolle’s alleged accomplice in the leg.
