United Nations committee member Marion Methel believes the discussions must include the discrimination that marginalized women with intersecting identities still face in the country.

In recent weeks, the country has seen a spike in violence against women, stirring public outcry. Social Services Minister Obie Wilchcombe believes this violence is deeply rooted in gender inequality.

Speaking at the national gender-based violence law review forum, he added the public shares a responsibility in ending violence against women.
