UNITED STATES – The New York Liberty have another injury concern after Jonquel Jones left Tuesday night’s 93-86 loss to the Chicago Sky with a left ankle injury.
Jones went down with 3:31 remaining in the first quarter and immediately grabbed her left ankle, before being helped to her feet and limping to the locker room. She did not return to the game.
The Liberty initially listed Jones as questionable to return, but she was ruled out shortly after halftime. Head coach Chris DeMarco said Jones will be evaluated in the coming days, with no timetable for her return provided.
Jones’ absence was felt immediately as Chicago outrebounded New York 44-35 and held a 20-6 advantage in second-chance points.
The injury is particularly worth monitoring given Jones’ recent ankle history. She missed significant time last season after suffering two right-ankle injuries and underwent surgery on that ankle in October. Tuesday’s injury, however, was to her left ankle.
The injury adds to a growing list of health issues for the Liberty, who have spent much of the season without key players, including Satou Sabally and Leonie Fiebich.
With the playoff race heating up, the Liberty will now wait for an update on one of their most important players.’

AJ Storr is on the move again, with the former Wisconsin star announcing Tuesday that he will play his final college season at UNLV.
Storr will suit up for his fifth different program in five college seasons, after spending the 2025-26 season at Ole Miss.
The soon-to-be 23-year-old received an injunction from a judge that allows him an additional season of college eligibility.
Storr began his career at St. John’s, where he averaged 8.8 points, before breaking out at Wisconsin. He started all 36 games for the Badgers in 2023-24 and led the team with 16.8 points per game, earning second-team All-Big Ten honours.
He then transferred to Kansas, where his production dropped to 6.1 points per game, before rebounding at Ole Miss last season with a team-best 15.5 points per game.
Now, Storr heads to UNLV, a school with a connection to his past. He attended high school in Las Vegas during his pre-college journey.
Over his four college seasons, Storr has played 138 games, starting 72, and has a career average of 11.9 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.1 assists, while shooting 43.1 percent from the field and 34.1 percent from three-point range.

Bahamian infielder Daunte Stuart continued to make his presence felt for the Jersey Shore BlueClaws on Tuesday night, going 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs in a 10-5 loss to the Hudson Valley Renegades.
Stuart put the BlueClaws ahead 2-0 in the second inning with a solo home run, then added an RBI single in the fifth to give Jersey Shore a 5-4 lead.
Hudson Valley would eventually force extra innings before scoring five times in the 10th.
Stuart’s performance continues his first season in the Philadelphia Phillies organization after the club acquired him from the New Jersey Jackals in June.
For the 2026 season, Stuart has combined his time with New Jersey and Jersey Shore, with eight home runs, 10 RBIs and 11 stolen bases between the two levels. With the BlueClaws, he has also shown his ability to contribute with the bat and on the basepaths.
Tennis
One of the biggest events on the local tennis calendar has wrapped up, with the 32nd annual AID Clay Court Championships concluding Saturday at the Gym Tennis Club in Winton Meadows.
The two-week tournament ended with William “JJ” Fountain claiming the men’s open singles title, defeating Cailan Bowe in straight sets, 6-1, 6-0, in front of a capacity crowd.
Fountain made his return to tournament tennis after several years away and did so as an unseeded player, winning every match without dropping a set. He also eliminated the number two seed on his way to the championship.
Malaika Masson won the ladies junior vets singles title, while Jyles Turnquest claimed the men’s junior vets crown.
In doubles, Anthony Cooke and Sh’ron Saunders won mixed doubles, Jacobi Bain and Tshombe Johnson took the men’s open title, and Derron Donaldson and Josh Herman won men’s junior vets doubles. Cooke and Godfrey Virgill claimed the men’s veterans doubles title.
There were no repeat champions in the same events from last year, while Cooke was the only double champion.
