NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Bahamas has been a part of the war on drugs for decades thanks to partnerships with U.S. agencies but just how fruitful have joint efforts been?

The announcement follows countless drug busts either on Bahamian soil or in our waters.

He credits the success to collaboration between The Bahamas, the United States, and Turks and Caicos.

2024 started with four men being charged with a multimillion-dollar drug seizure.

And officer attached Operation Bahamas and Turks and Caicos allegedly found 2,908 pounds of marijuana and five pounds of cocaine after searching a go-fast boat.

The cocaine had a street value of $2.98 million while the marijuana was valued at $15,000.

Carmichael says the key part to seizures like these are international partnerships like Operation Bahamas Turks and Caicos.

As the partnership grows, Carmichael says they must remain on top of their game.
