Mako Maintains Commanding Lead Into Day 3 at Nationals

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Mako Aquatics still maintained its lead on day three of the 52nd Bahamas National Swimming Championships.

At the end of day two Mako had 1,429 points along with 127 total medals. Mako Head Coach is Travano McPhee.

We also caught up with Blue Waves Swim Club Head Coach Dellan Brown who shared how he keeps his team together for a four-day meet.

Officially opening the meet Friday evening was Bahamas Aquatics President Algernon Cargill.

Nationals will close out on Sunday with the closing ceremonies set to begin at 5pm.

Track and Field

Purdue Head track and field and cross country coach Norbert Elliott is hanging up his stopwatch after over three decades. 

Elliott competed in the 1988 and 1992 Olympics in the triple jump before accepting his first coaching job at his alma mater, University of Texas at el Paso. 

He would make stops at the University of Georgia, Murray State and Cambpell University before landing at Purdue as an assistant in 2012. 

In 2015 he was named associate head coach and in 2018 he would take over from another Bahamian, Lonnie Green. 

He coached countless Big Ten champions including Bahamians Devynne Charlton, Carmisha Cox and Miami Dolphins running back Raheem Mostert, who was the first sprinter he mentored.
