NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A 41-year-old former cop is behind bars after being accused of a shooting that left a 23-year-old in hospital.

Desir Bien faced charges of causing dangerous harm and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life when he stood before Chief Magistrate Roberto Reckley.

The charges stem from the July 14 of Tracey Russell, who was shot to the leg and upper body while at a club on Nassau Street.

At the time of the shooting, Bien had been suspended from his duties and was not authorized to have a gun.

He’s since been completely relieved of his duties.

Bien didn’t have to plead to the charges and was denied bail.

He’s back in court on October 10 to receive voluntary bill of indictment papers.
