NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Former Senator Andrew “Dud” Maynard has passed away at age 82.

Our News understands Maynard passed away just after midnight, Friday.

Maynard was a former senator and former chair of the Progressive Liberal Party.

Former Free National Movement Chair Carl Culmer described Maynard as “become a mentor, an advisor, a friend, and a brother,” who knew when to show up during tough times and give wise counsel.

Progressive Liberal Party Chairman Fred Mitchell reflected on Maynard’s contributions, describing him as, “a tough man.”

“He spared no hold back in his words.  It was clear where he stood, but he was indefatigable and faithful to the cause,” Mitchell said.

Mitchell sent condolences on behalf of the PLP Leader Philip Davis and Mrs. Davis, Deputy Leader Chester Cooper and Mrs. Cooper, the parliamentary caucus and the officers and members.
