NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A policeman will have to pay for the damage caused to a patrol car during an on-duty collision after the Court of Appeal rejected his last chance appeal.

Corporal Randolph Newton was convicted of driving without due care and attention – stemming from a November 9th, 2020 accident on University Drive.

Newton was responding to an emergency call when he drove against the flow of traffic, ran a red light and crashed into Marlon Briscoe’s car.

Newton’s conviction was first upheld in 2025 by Justice Gregory Hilton, and the Court of Appeal denied an appeal against his decision this week.
