NASSAU, BAHAMAS – As the country prepares to celebrate 50 years of Independence this July, a group of creatives is partnering with a local fabric store, to create beautiful designs all in celebration of the historical event.

It’s a beautiful display of black, gold and aquamarine, and it’s all available at Commonwealth Fabrics on Montgomery Street just ahead of Independence Day.

Local designers from across The Bahamas will use drapes, props, fabric and more to create unique designs to commemorate the country’s 50th year of Independence.

The project is the brainchild of designer extraordinaire Linda Stubbs, who says the decision to partner with the local fabric store was a no brainer.

Owner of Commonwealth Fabrics, Tamara Cargill says the soft launch is only the beginning, and a major product launch is slated for May.

She adds it was important to go big for the 50th.

Bahamian fashion designer, Apryl Burrows, says the project will give designers an opportunity to think outside the box.
