NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Foreign Affairs Minister and Member of Parliament for Fox Hill, Fred Mitchell, making the case in the House of Assembly that parliamentarians require more funding to support the needs of their constituency and its residents.

Mitchell says he believes inflation is the number one issue impacting Bahamians, noting he’s never seen this level of demands from constituents during his 31 years in public life.

Mitchell who was contributing to the 2023/2024 Budget Debate told parliamentarians he believes the public sees no distinction between public money and the personal money of MP’s; often suggesting parliamentarians pay for projects themselves.

He says it’s also important to consider the level of spending on social projects within the constituency, such as supporting local bands or schools.
