Doctor Sparks A Ray of Hope for Aspiring Moms

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Mother’s Day is just a few days away and while many may be celebrating with their children for some other mothers, who have experienced child loss or have infertility issues, it can be a day filled with gloom.

We spoke to Dr. Nina Graham, a gynecologist at the Princess Margaret Hospital about the sometimes, taboo topic and she had some words of advice for those who may be feeling down as the annual observance approaches.

Gynecologist Dr. Nina Graham says it’s important for those who have experienced infertility or child loss to not beat themselves up during this Mother’s Day season adding that you’re not alone as many women have experienced the sad situation and she says there are also support groups.

And if you are unable to have a child the doctor says it’s important to first find out the cause.

If a cause can’t be found she says adopting a child, although costly, can also be an option.

Another option? In vitro fertilization.

Dr. Graham says she’s seen success stories from couples who have chosen to use IVF.

The doctor adds that sometimes a lot of societal pressures on couples to have children can sometimes have a negative impact on conceiving.
