NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A recent off campus attack that left a student nursing stab wounds is cause for concern for education officials.

Education Minister Glenys Hanna-Martin telling reporters more must be done to ensure the safety of students whether on or off school campuses.

The education minister’s comments come two days after a student was stabbed.

According to police, the incident occurred around 3:30 on Monday afternoon, when a group of students got into an altercation on Lightbourne Avenue off Farrington Road.

During the fight someone pulled out a knife and the male student was stabbed about the body.

The victim was transported to hospital in a private vehicle, where he remains in stable condition.
