NASSAU, BAHAMAS – While returning to its usual venue of Parliament Square, the opening of Parliament will have many different aspects this time around.

We visited the venue hours before the event, with prep underway.

A large white air-conditioned tent now stretches from the Queen Victory statue in Parliament Square across the street to the Sir Milo Butler bust in Rawson Square.

Communications Director in the Office of Prime Minister Latrae Rahming explains organizers wanted to ensure everyone is comfortable.

The tent also has monitors throughout for easy viewing for all attendees and another large screen outside for those who won’t make it inside the tent.

Movi Group owner Burton Wallace says it will be substantially different and improved.

This is the second Opening of Parliament session to be held under the Davis administration and the first speech from the thrown for newly-minted Governor-General Cynthia “Mother” Pratt.

That speech is expected to lay out the government’s agenda for the remainder of their time in office.

While there were many pieces of legislation that did not get parliamentary approval before how were prorogued, Rahming explains the five pillars this speech will be centered around.
