SEATTLE, WASHINGTON – Bahamian Devard Darling played in the NFL for three teams as a standout wide receiver – Baltimore Ravens, Kansas City Chiefs and the Houston Texans.

He retired in 2011 and reflects on how he got his jumpstart.

And while we have so many Bahamians excelling in sports globally, he says we can be right up there with football too.

Here’s Darling’s advice for young athletes, no matter the sport.

And his focus now since retiring from the NFL?

Basketball

VJ Edgecombe balled out, dropping a near-triple double as Long Island Lutheran toppled powerhouse LA Lumiere 81-65 Thursday night in game one of the Laporte High School Invitational in Indiana. 

The Class of 2024 Top 5 Prospect and Bimini native had 21 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists in the win. 

In women’s college basketball Coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin and her Ole Miss Rebels took to the court for their first game of 2024, taking down the Alabama Tide to win their conference debut. 

Madison Scott led the way for the Rebels with 12 points, 4 rebounds and 5 assists and Kennedy Todd-Williams had 10 points and 7 rebounds off the bench.
