GRAND BAHAMA, BAHAMAS – The energy was electric at Freeport Fashion Week in Grand Bahama over the weekend, as the highly anticipated event proved to be a success.
The three-day event began on Friday, March 14, at The Stoned Crab Restaurant with a glamorous opening night fashion show, drawing a large crowd from the Grand Bahama community.
These models shared their experience:
Saria Ingraham – Model
“I got a tremendous opportunity to model for DeAngelo. I had a fun time, it was great, the vibes were good. I feel like I’m at NY Fashion Week! I look forward to this event every year because it’s such a big presentation, and I’m just so impressed.”
Basil Mutti – Model
“I loved it! It was my first time being on stage. I mean, I was in the Grease play at the Regency Theater a couple of months ago, but this was my first time modeling. It was really fun! I had great organizers, and the people were super fun.”
Attendees also praised the show’s excellence:
Lauri Tuchel & Colleen Lewis – Attendees
“I have to say this event was absolute perfection. They did a fantastic job! The models were professional and beautiful, and the outfits were so well designed, it was just a visual treat. It was fast-paced; it could’ve been anywhere. We are very proud of little Grand Bahama and the talent that is here.”
Designer Anthea Bullard of Hardour Collection shared her creative inspiration:
Anthea Bullard – Designer, Hardour Collection
“We’re celebrating 70 years of Freeport’s anniversary, so I did not do the platinum glamour. I’m never one to follow the rules, so I went against the platinum glamour and did red. It’s all about love, passion, some sauciness, but keeping it regal and elegant.”
David Rolle – Designer, Raphelita
“Freeport has so much. We around The Bahamas know Freeport as the pageant capital, the show capital.”
Chairman Fatima Zahra Kaboub reflected on this year’s showcase:
Fatima Zahra Kaboub – Chairman, Freeport Fashion Week
“I’m completely blown away by the designers this year. I think last year, no one really knew what we were doing. I mean, we knew what to do, but everyone was just stepping into it, unsure of what to expect. But this year, they knew what to expect, so the designers came up with these wonderful clothes, creative and very edgy.”
