GRAND BAHAMA, BAHAMAS – More than a week after a devastating fire in Bailey Town left several Bimini families homeless, help is now on the way, as the ASI North Bahamas Conference of Seventh-Day Adventists is hosting a donation drive from July 13th through the 15th, between 11AM and 2PM, to support those affected.

President Keranda Rolle is calling on Bahamians to come together to support the families as they begin the difficult process of rebuilding their lives after the tragic blaze.

“Today, we are appealing to the people of Grand Bahama, and throughout the entire Bahamas, to help these families by donating clothing for children, and adults. New underwear and socks, shoes and slippers, toiletries, beddings, household cleaning items, non perishable food items and baby supplies.”

“Donations will be accepted at the Evangeline Jervis Community Service Distribution Center and Hurricane Shelter. And we’re located across from the Independence Park, next to the Seventh-Day Adventist church, on east and gambier.”

Support is also coming from the Rotary Club of Grand Bahama.

President Keldra Pinder says rotary clubs across the island have joined forces to purchase a saltwater firefighting pump for Bimini, an initiative aimed at strengthening the island’s ability to respond to future fires and better protect residents.

“We are also asking for every rotarian, every rotaracter, interact club member, early act. Get your families involved along with the church we are collecting items.”

Initiatives like these aren’t new to the Pilot Club of Lucaya, as president‑elect and PR Coordinator Deborah Pratt says their mission is to make a positive change through friendship and service.

Also with Bimini being their island neighbor, Pratt says the club is proud to join the effort and do its part to support families as they recover from the devastating fire.

“Join us in making donations, we will also be assisting with packaging items to be shipped to Bimini, so we’re encouraging all pilots to get involved and let us do our part in serving our community.”
