LMS and EMIS Platforms Down

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Report card day for some public school students revealing more issues with the Learning Management System (LMS). Students grades one through eleven will have to wait two weeks for their final grades, meanwhile some 12th grade students took home inaccurate grades.

It was a grading gaffe as reports of issues with the LMS revealing report cards for some 12th grade students did not accurately reflect the work they’ve put in for the past year.

Since the Ministry of Education’s virtual learning platform was introduced, students and teachers have expressed concern over both the learning management system, LMS and the Education Management Information System (EMIS).

President of The Bahamas Union of Teachers, Belinda Wilson, in a voice note, citing a number of challenges expressed by teachers.

Among the issues, teachers tell Our News when they enter information in the LMS system – including grades and attendance days – they are often dropped from the EMIS platform, causing students overall grades and performances to reflect poorly on their records.

Wilson says the system was closed before marking days, and deadlines were consistently changed as well.

Wilson says teachers have done their part as it relates to teaching, drafting and administering exams and entering grades.

She says the Ministry of Education must ensure that both platforms are working efficiently.
