TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO – At a CARICOM Heads of Government Meeting in Trinidad and Tobago, U.S. State Secretary Anthony Blinkin said a multinational force is needed to help Haiti’s national police. It’s an area of intense focus for them.

CARICOM Chairman Roosevelt Skerrit spoke at the event.

Countries like The Bahamas have been impacted in recent years with thousands of Haitian nationals looking to escape to neighboring countries.

But the U.S isn’t the only country stepping up to help Haiti. Skerrit also revealing this commitment from Rwanda.

Skerrit says Rwanda also pledged to engage the African Union in hopes of getting broad-based support from that region.

He says moving forward there are a number of steps to be taken like a United Nations security resolution on the issue in Haiti.

But how will that be financed?
