NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Social Services Minister Obie Wilchcombe admitting that there is a lack of data within the department relating to violence against women and children.

He says thats one of the challenges he met when he became minister adding that while they are provided with some statistics he and his team are now in the process of creating a research unit that will be responsible for collecting that data.

Now, the social services minister says he believes a large amount of issues relating to violence in the country is connected to the vulgar music that is often played on the airwaves.

Recently, the Broadcasting Commission in Jamaica issued a directive requiring broadcasters to take immediate steps to prevent the transmission of any recorded material that promotes or glorifies illegal activity.
