GUYANA – Two Guyanese men bound for New York were arrested and charged for attempting to smuggle cocaine in bowls of curry.

Local customs narcotics officers at the Cheddi Jagan Airport found the cocaine while searching the suitcase of one of the accused, as he attempted to board the JFK bound JetBlue Flight.

The substance later confirmed as cocaine was found in two bowls or curry and valued at $31,000, that’s about $6.3 million in Guyanese dollars.

The second suspect was arrested from onboard the U.S. bound plane.
