NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A 51-year-old man is facing a retrial after a jury acquitted him of the murder of a British doctor in Clarence Town, Long Island.

Moses Morris was cleared of the April 1, 2015 murder following a trial. However, jurors could not reach a decision on the alternative verdict of manslaughter. Prosecutors alleged that Morris fatally stabbed the 88-year-old during an argument over money at his winter home.

Morris allegedly sold conch pearls to Harding, who resold them online. The evidence of the alleged argument over money and the subsequent fight came from a purported confession.

However, defense lawyer David Cash said that the confession could not be believed, as there was no physical evidence inside the home that linked Morris to the crime.

He said that Morris was the fall guy because the murder of a British citizen was an international incident.

Morris has been in custody since his arrest on April 4, 2015. He will remain behind bars, pending his retrial unless he’s granted bail.
