NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A judge has set a second trial date for a 48-year-old man accused of molesting his two-year-old daughter, as police continue to search for her mother.

Prosecutors allege that the man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, sexually abused his daughter on January 7, 2020.

A jury was impanelled to hear his case in July; however, Senior Justice Bernard Turner discharged the jury after the now-four-year-old’s mother, her legal guardian, refused to bring her to court.

An arrest warrant remains outstanding for the mother, who has moved and withdrawn her daughter from school.

After expressing concern about the inability of the police to find the woman and her child, Turner set a new trial date of February 13, 2023.
