NASSAU, BAHAMAS – From their school campus to the office of the Prime Minister and now the House of Assembly, teachers from the Thelma Gibson Primary School take their protest to Parliament after getting no resolution from the Prime Minister on Tuesday.

Teachers want the school’s principal removed over an alleged altercation.

Heavy police presence guarded the House of Assembly, which was in session this morning.

However that would not stop the group from holding placards and chanting solidarity forever.

Bahamas Union of Teachers President Belinda Wilson, who was also with the group says she was unable to speak to the prime minister this morning.

She says she’s determined to have the matter resolved quickly.

Ministry of Education Permanent Secretary Lorraine Armbrister has said the matter is now with the Director of Labour who will determine the way forward.
