Teachers Sit Out At T.A. Thompson

The return to school getting off to a bumpy start at T. A. Thompson junior high school where teachers staged a sit-out, this morning, in protest of working conditions.

 



Teachers at T. A. Thompson Junior High School say they feel unsafe on campus, noting that some teaching blocks have been in need of major repair for some time now; something they say should have been done ahead of the reopening of schools.

To further compound the safety issue, Montpetit says the school does not have sufficient bathrooms and they have been dealing with a water issue for years. Both factors raising major health concerns.

Montpetite says the teachers collectively believe that the re-opening of this campus should have been delayed. District Steward, William Ingraham adding that he has been informed that the repairs could take weeks. They say teachers are prepared to sit out for as long as necessary.
