NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Sometimes one act of kindness can snowball into a life-changing experience for a someone in need.

Vanessa Rahming and her children had been homeless and living between shelters and friends’ homes for  10 months before she landed a job as a manager three months ago.

But even then, with four children, Rahming struggled to save enough to meet the hurdle of first and last month’s rent and the security deposit needed to rent a place for her family.

For the past three months, she was able to pay a landlord $200 a week, but last week, the situation went south and the family was homeless again.

The Rahmings found themselves at Eastwood Park.

Help came in the form of Kerel Pinder, a total stranger, driving home. Although she says she never stops for strangers, she tells us finding out she had won a scholarship opportunity that day had her in the spirit to pay it forward.

And even after Pinder was moved to cover another night’s stay, she says God told her there was more to give.

Pinder shared Rahming’s plight on social media, and the post raised more than $2,300 in just six hours, and by the 12-hour mark, they were nearing $5,000 in donations.

Now, Pinder says, they need the public’s help to find appropriate accommodations for the family.

They have raised enough funds for the first and last month’s rent, as well as the security deposit, but they’re having trouble finding kid-friendly housing between $800-1000 a month.

If you would like to help the Rahmings you can reach out to Kerel Pinder at 242-727-4916.
