FLORIDA – Wayne Wonder held an impressive catalog of music, first bursting on the scene in 1985.

Since his first breakout hit, produced by King Tubby with his single Long Lasting Love, he’s continued to leave his mark.

Now, two decades later, his image and his sound are still a staple in the reggae community.

While at the Best of the Best press launch earlier this month, we spoke to Wayne about the longevity of his stardom.

Although he is considered an icon in the genre, Wayne says there’s no letting go of the connection he has with his audience.

“I got to keep reinventing myself, and because I’m a writer, I’m like a painter. Like, when I see it, I can write it that way, like for the new generation. I guess I’m just blessed to know how to balance the vibe. I guess you just have to be blessed, you know what I mean? Be true to your craft and do it from a good place, ya know.”

He recently released two new singles.

“One is for the ladies, it’s called Sweet, the ladies’ sound, definitely check it out. And I got one more; it’s called Lift Me Up, more inspirational, something to start your morning with, know what I mean.”

We asked Wayne what his advice is for local artists who want to expand their footprint in the region, and possibly the world.

His response was simple…
