UNITED STATES – Global Measles cases surged 20% in 2023, with 10.3 million infections and 107,500 deaths, mostly in children under five, according to W.H.O.

In the U.S., cases jumped from 59 in 2023 to 277 in 2024, spanning 30 states and D.C.

Experts link the rise to falling vaccination rates, worsened by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The WHO and Centers for Disease Control stress the need for 95% vaccine coverage to prevent outbreaks and protect vulnerable populations.
