PLP Hits Grand Bahama: Defending Their Record and Making New Promises

GRAND BAHAMA , BAHAMAS- The Progressive Liberal Party took its campaign to Grand Bahama on Monday night, hosting a rally in West End as election season heats up.

Supporters gathered to hear from party leaders and candidates, as the PLP outlined its plans and defended its record ahead of the upcoming vote.

East Grand Bahama candidate, Dr. Monique Pratt, promised greater access to Crown land, telling residents that long-awaited approvals have already been secured.

“I heard them other folks on the other side were talking about some crown land they have for y’all. Well, I’m proud to say that I have in my possession your long-awaited deeds to your crown land, and I’ve been given the instructions from our Prime Minister to release them to you!”

Pineridge MP Ginger Moxey, who is seeking re-election, urged voters not to forget the past as she defended her record.

“They mishandled Dorian. Supplies meant for your family were stolen, and Minnis confirmed it himself. Pintard sat around the table and did not speak up for you when the power company added a storm recovery charge to your bill. And I know none of you will ever forget about Oban.”

Deputy Prime Minister Chester Cooper pointed to projects in the pipeline, including long-awaited progress on Grand Bahama’s airport following its destruction by Hurricane Dorian.

“We secured Celebration Key, the Freeport Harbor Cruise Port deal, the MSC Beach Club. That’s jobs and opportunities. We ensured the shipyard is getting the largest floating dock in the hemisphere. And your international airport is fully funded and moving forward.”

Prime Minister Philip Davis also pushed back against criticism from the opposition, by saying his administration is working to fix issues left behind.

“The FNM left behind mess after mess after mess — the biggest messes I’ve ever seen. And we have been cleaning it up. We have been cleaning up their mess. Now they have the nerve to complain that we’re not cleaning it up fast enough. That’s what the complaint is about.”

With election day nearing, the PLP is making its case for re-election as the campaign trail continues.

More rallies are expected across the country in the coming days.
