Three Accused Drug Smugglers Charged With $5.9M Drug Seizure

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Three accused drug smugglers are behind bars awaiting trial following the seizure of 2,380 pounds of marijuana.

55-year-old Dwight Newbold, 35-year-old Corderro McBride, and 46-year-old Kendall Thomas denied charges of drug possession with intent to supply, drug importation, and conspiracy to commit the offenses at their arraignment before Senior Magistrate Raquel Whymms.

The charges stem from the July 25, 2026 interception of a Bahamian-registered go-fast boat in international waters about 80 miles southwest of Great Inagua.

The US Coast Guard working along with the Royal Bahamas Defence Force boarded the vessel and seized 97 bales of marijuana, with a wholesale street value of $5.9 million.

The accused were denied bail and their trial is set for December of 2026.
