Darville: Vaccination Voluntary ‘At This Time’

Vaccination against COVID-19 will remain voluntary in the Bahamas ‘at this time’, according to Health Minister Dr. Michael Darville, who says government’s goal is just to get as many people vaccinated as possible.

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Vaccination against COVID-19 will remain voluntary in the Bahamas ‘at this time’, according to Health Minister Dr. Michael Darville, who says government’s goal is just to get as many people vaccinated as possible.

More than 255-thousand Bahamians and residents have received at least one dose of the covid-19 vaccine so far, leaving the number of fully vaccinated people still short of the 85-percent recommendations for herd immunity. 



Several Family Islands are battling virus outbreaks and clusters. 

Free covid testing has been introduced on Inagua and will be offered in Eleuthera and the Berry Islands beginning tomorrow.  

However, Dr. Darville says some covid-positive Bahamians may be seeking medical help too late.
