NASSAU, BAHAMAS – On this day in Bahamian history, Ellison Edroy Greenslade was appointed Commissioner of the Royal Bahamas Police Force in 2010.
Greenslade was the sixth person to head the RBPF of an independent Bahamas. He served in this post from 2010 – 2017.
Aquinas College opened on New Providence in 1957, originally located on Montrose Avenue.
The school was founded with the help of Dominican nuns: Sister Jean Patricia McGowan, Sister Mary Adrian Brennan, Sister Carmel Decker, Sister Jean Kevin Afderherd and Sister Marie Peter Hafey. The first principal was Jean Patricia.
Christopher George Fox was born on Long Island on January 4, 1944.
Fox is a singer-songwriter, musician and producer. At a young age he moved to New Providence and attended Southern Senior School, learning music under Timothy Gibson.
After attending high school, he became the first Bahamian to attend Berklee College of Music where he continued to develop his talents.
Also, on this day in history, Henry Arthur Blake is appointed Governor of Bahama Islands, serving from January 4, 1884 – 1887.
