NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Government is working on funding for the long-awaited Gladstone Road improvement project, according to Works Minister Alfred Sears.

Sears telling reporters that plans are also in the works for Family Island roads as well. Berthony mcdermott reports.

Works and utilities minister given an update on road works for gladstone road that’s seen a few delays.

Sears saying funds are being sourced for this project.

The project slated to begin at the end of 2022 was pushed back to mid-2023 and is expected to last for two years, according to officials from the minister of works and utilities.

Just this week, the Ministry of Works announced a five-week road improvement project is set to begin on Gladstone Road.

He said this is just an interim measure.

The road improvement will span the entire length of Gladstone Road and feature five new major junctions controlled by roundabouts.

It’s also expected to include the re-alignment of the roundabout at JFK drive and Gladstone Road.

Additionally, the road is supposed to be turned into a duel carriage way.

Sears also says projects are also in the works for Long Island, Exuma, The Berry Islands, and across New Providence.
